Die Produkte der Kategorie der optischen Reflektoren werden zur Änderung der räumlichen Verteilung der von einer Lichtquelle, meist einer LED, gelieferten Lichtintensität verwendet. Sie werden zur Erhöhung der Lichtausbeute des Systems verwendet. Das von einer Quelle erzeugte Licht wird von unerwünschten Richtungen entlang eines Pfades abgelenkt, auf dem das andernfalls vergeudete Licht einem nützlichen Zweck zugeführt werden kann.
