400 - 1400 Mhz Wireless Radio Receiver

In superheterodyne-based receiver circuits, filtering of RF signal is performed by passive components. Two down conversion processes are done to produce the baseband signal to be demodulated. After the antenna receives the RF signal, it then passes through a bandpass filter. The total amplification is performed by the LNA together with the IF VGA. Filtering is required in the circuit to suppress noise signals present. While IF amplifiers are valued for its gain control, the LNA is chosen according to its linearity and noise figure. The circuit is a 900MHz wireless reciever that uses the MML09212HT1, a 2-stage LNA with an on-chip active bias control from Freescale. The device features a low noise figure of 0.52 dB at 900Mhz and a third order output intercept point of 37.5dBm at 900Mhz. The MML09212HT1 is operated by a 5V supply and can range between 400 - 1400Mhz of frequency.

The MML09212HT1 is also used in cellular infrastructure applications providing high isolation in the circuits. It is designed for a range of low noise, high linearity applications such as picocell, femtocell, tower mounted amplifiers (TMA) and receiver front-end circuits.
