F0480 Matched Broadband RF VGA with Glitch-Free and Zero-Distortion

The circuit has a +5V on pin 12/13 can initially start up the circuit at this time the circuit has a minimum gain in its default voltage gain amplifier setting which means it also has a maximum attenuation setting. On standby, a 0 volts or open circuit will turn the power on, while a +5 V turns the power off. To minimize sensitivity to CLK bus noise when the device is not being programmed, it includes a CLK inhibit feature. The device operates in four modes: low-band, mid-band, high-band, and broad-band. The values of C5, R7 and R8 are given for optimum performance; A Low-Band (LB) with a frequency range of 700-1100MHz and a LB (open) band select in Pin 15, it has a R7 (2.2kohms), R8 (9.1kohms), C5(9pF) , and an Icc (100mA). A Mid-Band (MB) has a frequency range of 1100-2200 MHz and a HB (GND) band select in pin 15, it has R7 (2.4kohms), R8 (9.1ohms) , C5 (9pF), and Icc (117mA). A High-Band (HB) has a frequency range of 2200 - 2700 MHz and a HB(GND) band select in pin 15, it has a R7 (2.67k ohms), R8 ( 75k ohms), C5 (6pF), and Icc (109 mA). Lastly a Broad-Band (BB) with a frequency range of 400-2700 MHz and HB (GND) band select in pin 15, it has a R7 (2.2k ohms), R8(20k ohms), C5 (6pF ), and Icc (124 mA).

The device simplifies the designs in RF DVGA while also making it more reliable. Such typical applications of the RF digital gain amplifier is found in transmitter, receiver and other applications such as, base stations, point to point and public infrastructure, repeaters, GPS receivers, and digital radio.
