A number of different options are available to expand the board through the PC/104-Plus stackable connectors, a mini PCIe socket, and an SPI / SPX expansion connector. The industry-standard PC/104-Plus interface allows stackable system expansion for off-the-shelf expansion modules from numerous vendors. Ethernet, USB, and Serial Ports are a few examples of common stackable expansion modules. Systems can be enhanced by leveraging the Fox’s on-board Mini PCIe expansion socket with plug-in Wi-Fi modems, GPS receivers, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, Analog, and other mini cards. The Mini PCIe socket includes mSATA capability providing flexible solid-state drive (SSD) options. The SPX expansion connector allows low-cost analog and digital SPI interconnect expansion modules to be easily added to the system. SPX expansion provides an easy way to add low-speed I/O expansion such as Analog Inputs, Analog Outputs, and Digital I/O. The Fox is powered by a 5 V typical input which is compatible with most embedded power supplies typically used on legacy PC/104 platforms.
