This slide shows a comparison of the radiated EMI for an unshielded inductor, an IHLP, and an IHLE®. The Y-axis indicates the measured radiated EMI in mV and the X-axis is the measurement distance from the top of the inductor in a DC/DC converter switching at 500kHz with 12VIN, 1.5VOUT at 15ADC. The unshielded ferrite drum inductor has serious EMI issues. The IHLP, with its B Field magnetic shielding, has 3 to 4 times better radiated EMI across the measurement distance. The IHLE improves the radiated noise reduction even further and provides 10 to 20 times less radiated EMI than the ferrite inductor.
