In summary, Vishay’s ISOA series are 120 W power resistors that can handle high power and high energy pulses (i.e. 110 J over 0.1 s) in a small SOT-227 package. The ISOA series offers the option to integrate an NTC thermistor inside the resistor package to actively monitor the resistor temperature while applying power in active discharge circuits in electric vehicle applications. These resistors may also be used for passive discharge and pre-charge applications. These resistors should be mounted on a heatsink with a phase change thermal interface material (PC-TIM), and to facilitate the installation of the resistors in production, Vishay offers the option to deliver the resistors with the PC-TIM pre-applied.
