AK2, AX3, AK5, and AK7 ClearClock™ XO Series

Abracon's AK2, AX3, AK5, and AK7 ClearClock™ series of crystal oscillators are designed to meet the needs of compact applications requiring carrier frequencies in the 100 MHz to 220 MHz range while maintaining data rates in excess of 10 Gbps and up to 100 Gbps/400 Gbps.

The devices utilize a quiet third overtone architecture that avoids phase-locked loop (PLL) based multiplication, reducing overall power consumption far below other high-performance oscillator alternatives. Typically consuming 30 mW of power at the lowest operating voltage of 1.8 V, this next generation of ClearClock™ delivers industry-leading low power consumption for low-noise-differential oscillators.

The third overtone ClearClock solutions provide the best combination of ultra-low sub-80 fs jitter performance in a miniature footprint. These devices are ideal for applications such as optical modules, active cables, and small networking and storage gear. The series cover all necessary differential output logic types (HCSL, LVDS, LVPECL) and are available in industry-standard frequencies.

The 2.5 mm x 2.0 mm x 1.0 mm AK2 ClearClock series offers the smallest-possible profile and delivers a best-in-class RMS phase jitter of <110 fs typical (at 156.25 MHz, V_DD = +2.5 V with LVDS output). The devices are guaranteed to exhibit <200 fs RMS jitter at 156.25 MHz carrier with any bias voltage and RF output configuration.

AX3 ClearClock devices have a 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm x 1.0 mm package size and deliver a sub-80fs typical RMS jitter. The devices can be biased at +1.8 V, +2.5 V, or +3.3 V with LVDS or HCSL outputs and at +2.5 V and +3.3 V with LVPECL output configuration.
