Due to the unique shape of the lens, there are several ways to mount this sensor. In order to get the full 150° field of view, the sides of the sensor must be exposed. Sometimes end users want to be discrete with the placement of the sensor and wish to enhance the aesthetics of their product by keeping the sensor flush against their housing. The flat shape of this sensor allows this to be done easily, while still maintaining a 122° field of view.
