The CP2112 device bridges data between USB and SMBus\I²C. Silicon Labs provides example applications to highlight the operation of the device. The HIDtoSMBus\I²C Example application highlights the operation of the API functions. For example, the Data Transfer tab in the GUI provides the ability to transfer data between the host and an SMBus\I²C slave device. The steps shown here illustrate how to use the tool. The slave address can be entered and the data transferred using the Read Request, Get Read/Write Transfer Status, Read Response and Force Read Response API buttons. Each of these buttons have a corresponding API call defined in AN496.
