Historically, thin film resistors have been used in areas requiring high-precision, long-term stability, and a low temperature coefficient of resistance. The frequency performance of thin film resistors, in excess of 100 MHz, typically involves a roll-off of the impedance to either inductive or capacitive-dominated values, commonly referred to as parasitic impedance. This slide shows the 0402 flip chip frequency response with minimal roll-off over high frequency. As shown here, by selecting the flip chip top termination construction, minimal roll-off will occur.
