Another problem associated with ferromagnetic components used in or around the MRI is distortion. A device containing copper, nickel or tin creates distortion to this phantom test when exposed to a 3 Tesla MRI. Even small traces of ferromagnetic material  can cause distortion which is unacceptable since it will effect the MRI image resolution.
