The key features of the MEF1 series begin with its post-regulated design. These models still rely on a well-regulated input as they employ LDO post-regulation, in contrast to a fully-regulated topology. The integral LDO not only provides tight regulation, but also low output noise and improved ripple rejection. The MEF1 series exhibits higher efficiency across the full load range, with improvements ranging from three to fifteen percentage points when compared to competitive post-regulated models. This performance is a direct consequence of Murata’s proprietary ME series topology. Higher efficiency means lower system power consumption with the collateral benefits of higher reliability, lower operating costs, and simplified thermal management.
