Another design consideration is capacitance shift on Class 2 and 3 dielectrics when voltage is applied. This is called Voltage Coefficient of Capacitance or VCC. This slide shows an example of VCC measured on a Class 2 X7R and Class 1 C0G MLCC from 0 VDC to 16 VDC on a 16 V rated part. On the left, the graph shows a shift in capacitance up to -60% at rated voltage. Notice that the graph on the right shows 0 capacitance shift for Class 1 C0G over the entire voltage range.
