Similar to DC voltage, Class 2 and 3 MLCCs will have a capacitance shift with AC voltage as seen in the graph on the left. However, Class 1 C0G MLCCs will have no shift in capacitance with AC voltage. Note that because Class 2 and 3 MLCCs will have a capacitance shift with AC voltage, it is important when measuring the nominal capacitance per the catalog, the correct AC voltage is used. For example, an X7R, 1µF part should be measured at 1VRMS and 1kHz. Capacitors above 10µF should be measured at 0.5VRMS and 120Hz.
