The compound, which is applied to the gold-plated contacts during manufacturing, notably contains an Ultraviolet (UV) tracer dye to enable visual inspection at any time. A combination of pore blocker and lubricant, EPP-918A fills the open pores (holes) in the gold plated surfaces and prevents access of oxygen and corrosive agents from getting to the base metal slowing the corrosion process.
