Direct driving of the ADJ pin can be used to reduce or increase the current in the LED which may be used to dim or brighten the LED. The graph illustrates how the LED current will vary with ADJ voltage. Note the multi-function ADJ pin has a shut down function which reduces the LED current to zero when the voltage falls below a nominal 0.2 V. At this point the ZXLD1350 will only take a quiescent current of maximum 20 mA. Using a DC voltage to dim the LED via the ADJ pin will produce a dimming ratio of 6 to 1 from maximum brightness. The brightness will not linearly reduce to zero as the ADJ voltage reduces but will cut off at around 200 mV. This is approximately one sixth of the 1.25 V reference.
