NXP has been in the transceiver market for many years and has several generations of products. The first generation of HS-CAN products included the 82C250 and 82C251. The 82C251 operates on a 24V system and is intended for the truck market. Although these parts were designed in the early days of CAN, they are still widely used. Apart from the automotive applications, other markets for CAN transceivers include the industrial market as well as building automation and medical applications. TAJ10xx devices are second generation CAN transceivers and are drop-in replacements for the 82C250/251. They offer increased performance and added features such as sleep mode, bus diagnostics and power management.
