The voltage - current characteristic of a MLCV does not have a polarity like diodes. It is a shared high resistance domain (non-movement domain) and a low resistance domain (movement domain). The point where the resistance value suddenly changes is called the “Varistor voltage”. For a circuit, MLCVs behave as a capacitor in the domain equal to or less than the varistor voltage and as a resistor in the low resistance domains.
