MGJ3 and MGJ6 Triple Outputs

In the preceding slides, the IGBT driver power supply was presented as a dual output converter. It was also noted that the voltages of the outputs vary based on the specific IGBT or MOSFET device. The Murata 2 watt MGJ2 series provides this dual output configuration with a common return. In contrast, the MGJ3 and MGJ6 converters provide three outputs that are configured in such a way as to provide three dual-output voltage combinations. Specifically, these converters provide a 15 V output and two 5 V outputs. By selecting the appropriate terminals for the outputs, a +20 V and -5 V configuration is achieved. Similarly, another selection presents a +15 V output with a -10 V output. A +15 V and -5 V configuration is also possible in a third configuration. The +20/-5 V configuration would be optimum for most SiC devices, the +15/-10 V configuration serves most IGBTs, and the +15/-5 V configuration would be optimum for most MOSFETs. The flexibility provided by this innovative configuration allows for fewer product SKUs for customers using a diversity of switching devices.
