A wireless sensor network is a less expensive, more flexible and highly reliable alternative for existing wired monitoring and controlling solutions. LPWN systems are rapidly replacing wires in weather stations, light switches, HVAC systems, and many other areas. There are applications that become realizable only with LPWNs because using wires between devices is too expensive or impossible. Especially in many industrial, agricultural and military areas, physical wiring is impossible or would create extreme disturbance for other operations. Absence of wires allows interconnection of many nodes and hence network coverage of large areas. Data is delivered to the destination via best suitable path. If a node that was retransmitting suddenly fails, wireless links between devices allow simple data rerouting over the other best suitable node. Unlike in wired solutions, connection to moving objects is also much easier over the wireless medium.
