UART (ricetrasmettitore asincrono universale)

Le interfacce UART (ricetrasmettitore asincrono universale ) sono circuiti fisici che convertono i bit paralleli provenienti da un microcontroller o da una CPU in bit seriali per la trasmissione; in alternativa convertono i bit seriali ricevuti in bit paralleli per l'uso da parte di un altro microcontroller o CPU. Le interfacce UART possono utilizzare i protocolli RS232, RS422 o RS485 per la trasmissione dei dati e sono classificate in base al numero di canali, alla velocità di trasmissione dati e alle caratteristiche aggiuntive come gli oscillatori interni, i timer, il contatore, le porte GPIO e stampante.
