Shown here is the lineup of complex drivers. These are available in 2,500 V_RMS or 3,750 V_RMS isolation ratings. Some have a built-in Miller Clamp transistor, while others require an external transistor. They all include a soft turn-off feature which gently shuts off the power device when an overcurrent or desaturation condition is detected. This prevents a sudden voltage spike from stray inductance which would otherwise appear at turn-off. Some include a temperature monitor, which passes information (a PWM signal) from the secondary side back to the primary side where the DSP can measure the duty cycle and determine the temperature of the power device baseplate (NTC thermistor) or chill plate (string of Si diodes). There are anywhere from one to three outputs on the primary side to let the DSP monitor the health of the driver. Fault conditions such as undervoltage, desaturation, overcurrent, output state feedback (OSFB), and overtemperature are available.
