ROHM’s DC/DC buck has many advantages. One main feature to highlight is the nano pulse operation that allows switching operation at very high frequencies (to reduce magnetic sizing), while still being able to convert from very high voltages down to low voltages. This is achieved with the ability to operate down to 9 nanoseconds “on-time,” allowing conversion from 60 V input down to 3.3 V output at 2.1 MHz switching frequency. Conversion using only one step from high voltages down to low voltages will result in high efficiency, as it avoids the need of a second intermediate buck converter stage.
