A snapshot of a spectrum analysis sweep from a LAN application with a noisy PHY is provided on this slide. The snapshot does not explain why the PHY is producing a failure at 125MHz as well as the second and third harmonics. However, it is clear that emissions compliance would be a concern. If layout measures are not taken and a Würth Elektronik Midcom product footprint compatible with the HPLE series is not chosen, the alternative would be to use a new board spin or wait for a custom transformer to be developed if the volume justifies it.
