The new card maintains the same dimensions as the CompactFlash card, 43 x 36mm, and is offered in Type 1 and Type 2, but differs in some key respects. The new standard requires a total of 24 pins, comprising 7 signal pins and 17 power and control pins, compared to 50 in the older standard. At 300MB/s, the data rate of the new platform is more than twice as fast as the original CompactFlash card. To the benefit of users, the new card also has a 25% lower minimum withdrawal force than the original card.
