Using the magnetoresistive sensor ICs in battery operated tools is another potential application. The sensor can be used to detect the position of the speed or torque selector, as well as for the absence or presence detection of the battery in the charger. In this application design engineers need low power consumption due to the battery operated wireless control, a small package, and a temperature range up to 85˚C (185°F).
