DataConverter-Slide4

The resolution of an analog-to-digital or digital-to-analog converter is analogous to that of a ruler as is shown in the slide. Resolution is the smallest amount of detectable or measureable change. It determines the size of the incremental change that the DAC can generate. The smaller the increment to be measured, the higher the resolution required.
